Wool Dryer Balls

I quit using fabric softener sheets a long time ago. Well, I quit purchasing fabric softener sheets a long time ago. I just did not feel right adding more chemicals into our living space, but still didn't care too much for having my clothes hug me in an unseemly manner. I have tried the DIY softener sheets using coffee filters and Shaklee fabric softener liquid, rags soaked in liquid fabric softener, and those really loud banging around in my dryer plasticish balls that have the sponge inside of them. I must admit, I have not been too impressed.
This weekend I made my own set of wool dryer balls.

Wound and secured

Prepared for washing

Washed & dried 3 times to felt
Wool dryer balls are supposed to save money, energy, and drying time. They contain no unwanted chemicals and are made of 100% Pure virgin wool containing natural oils.
I used Fisherman's Wool from Lion Brand Yarn. The color I had on hand was Oatmeal.

Spiral Hat for Big Daddy

The extremely cold Texas weather inspired me to whip up a spiral hat for Big Daddy. The pattern is based on Moriarty: two colour stripey crochet beanie on the "little house by the sea" blog

Eden's Too Sick to Go to School Hat

My precious Eden woke up this morning with a nasty tummy bug. So I concentrated on making her feel better... yes... a new hat did the trick!

The hat is based on the Little House by the Sea pattern  Moriarty: two colour stripey crochet beanie.

Eden's Granny Squarish Hat

The cold weather has played nasty with my arthritis and I'm limping around for the past few days. I swear someone is following me around making old lady noises. I sure don't sound like that!

I took a break from the USM and dabbled in some crochet this morning and was able to surprise Eden with this hat when she got home from school.

The hat is based on Susie's Kid's Granny Hat (C) pattern and I added a crochet rose.

Baybee its cold outside!

My dear Sprite is on vacation and I am so blessed that she is spending it with me. We have experienced beautiful sunshine, rain and freezing temperatures. SNARF! I am so not a winter person! Ms Fancy was kind enough to donate her sweater to my granddog Danny Boy and in return I made her a new sweater on the USM.
