Tattoo Etching for Justin

Justin is a dear friend that always brings a hug and a smile to me. He is funny even when I don't think he is trying to be. I remember the last Thanksgiving with Billy at Zero and CoCo's home. Justin and his dear wife Meagan sat across from us during the meal. Billy and I talked of that visit often and how special it was to have shared it with such good friends and sweet family.
When I was trying to decide what my first glass etching would be... I thought of Justin. I had visions of this sweet young man running down the street in cowboy boots with a drink in his hand chasing after Meka after she escaped... his long hair streaming in the wind... and never spilling a drop!

MY NOTES FOR: G001

July 2, 2013
Received tat jpeg from Zero via email.
Etched and filled with Rub and Buff Goldleaf
July 3, 2013
Turned right-side down and taped to keep paint from seeping onto front surface.
Sprayed 2 coats of black paint
July 4, 2013
Cleaned and placed under a pane of glass and framed. Ready for pickup.
The photo is terrible. I tried various rooms and lighting. There was too much reflection in most of the photos. I must research how to photograph picture frames.

Stained & Named

The color is supposed to "Honey Maple"... it looks yeller to me... maybe that will change as it dries...
All it needs now is a signature, a number, and clear coating... o yes and assembling, but that is Zero's job. The Warlock's name is now "Suga-Suga". Isn't it obvious? ummmm 2 sugar skulls...

Whew... Done...ish... Pffftttt... Who Am I Kidding???

Gracious meo! It is over 100 degrees in my garage so I got to sanding pretty quick. I'm done with the carving part of this project... That is... unless I decide to put something on the headstock and plate. I do have to decide where I will put my signature or if I will just put my dove symbol.
A bit more sanding, staining, and then sending it off to be sealed and this one is done!

My new made up Paisley-Pinecone-Bone flower...LOL

Spit'n Distance... Not That Far...

Well, I'm within spit'n distance of having the carving completed on the Warlock. I'm ready to be finished with this project... I have so many others that won't let me sleep at night.
Pretty much need to finish this Paisley flower and do some touch up and I am done with the carving.

Turns out that the vertigo was caused by my ear problems. I had a sexy case of impacted wax and it was causing the tube to not drain properly... ergo... or eargo... had to have my ears washed out. Still have a bad headache... UGG...WHINEEEEEE!!

Vertigo and Paisley

It has been a horrid day... woke up with the worst vertigo ever. Last time this happened I could not drive for almost 2 years. I'm sure it is a combination of TMJ and some ear trouble that has been pester'n me for the last 8 months. Anywho... I have an appointment in the morning to get my ear looked at... or into... hopefully this will be short-lived.

I didn't get much accomplished on the Warlock today. I did get the top notches completed and some of the petals and paisley work kinda sorta done...
Paisley makes me think of mom... she always called them "little fish"

Seems I didn't get all of the finish off of the edges... sigh... o well more to do

Notches along the top of the Warlock...

Nuther Sugar Skull and Technical Difficulties...

Slowly making progress in spite of a few equipment probs... I have most of the "roughing in" of the design done. Was fighting mosquitoes so Steven took me to get a shop fan which blows those lil bloodsuckers out of the garage.

Warlock Sugar Skull Ready Set Go!!

After sanding down the Warlock and preparing to carve the Mermaid & Serpent... Aaron saw the "clean slate" and said, "What if you put a skull on it instead?" So... I was off to find a sugar skull that he might like and after sending pictures in test messages, he decided on one.

After hours and hours of sanding...

This is a hole someone drilled into the body. I am not sure if I will incorporate it into the design or fill it...

Outline kinda sorta done and the dental work begins...
